# Value Compass
Five values from the 4Revs framework are vital in realizing the vision of circular cities:
**Decarbonize:** Decarbonization, through innovations that actively reduce greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) and swiftly cut down on CO2 output, is crucial for achieving circular cities. Reducing emissions and prioritizing critical points of intervention, such as targeting methane reductions within operations is essential to mitigate the environmental impact of urban areas. By decarbonizing, cities can foster a more resilient urban infrastructure.
**Long-term vision:** Long-termism is exemplified by innovations that reflect a strategic, forward-thinking perspective. Solutions characterized by long-term thinking are often visionary and designed to shape a sustainable future for the next generations. Prioritizing long-term gains over immediate profits aligns with circular cities' principles, fostering a commitment to lasting environmental and economic benefits.
**System thinking:** Urban innovations should acknowledge the interconnections among various components and grasp the entirety of a city's system rather than concentrating solely on individual elements. This is crucial for circular cities due to their inherent complexity. Anticipating unintended consequences is vital, as they can affect millions of citizens in one urban conglomerate. System thinking underscores the importance of a comprehensive understanding of the urban system to mitigate adverse impacts on the ecosystem.
**Fearless leadership:** Exploring uncharted territories plays a crucial role in realizing circular cities.
